EASTERN INSHORE FISHERIES AND CONSERVATION AUTHORITY
Section 155 & 156
Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009
Pursuant to the above Act, Eastern Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority intends to apply to the Minister for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for the confirmation of the Closed Areas Byelaw 2020.
The intention of this byelaw is to prohibit specified fishing activities which have been assessed as having an adverse impact on features of marine protected areas. The byelaw will replace the Marine Protected Area Byelaw 2019 and introduce additional restricted areas in relation to bottom towed gear, hand working and crab tilling in the Wash, and additional restricted areas on the Lincolnshire Coast in relation to bottom towed gear only. Bottom towed gear must be secured and stowed onboard vessels transiting the Restricted Areas unless an exemption applies. It will also reduce the size of one existing restricted area in the Humber estuary.
